Spa Frog

The Spa Frog System is built into many American made hot tubs. It comprises pre-filled mineral and bromine cartridges that slot into a compartment accessed from the top of the tub.

The Spa Frog mineral cartridge enables hot tubs sanitised with Spa Frog to use 50% - 80% less bromine than hot tubs treated with bromine alone; so there is less chemical use, less chance of skin irritation and less potential for a 'chemical smell'.

Fits the Spa Frog in-line or floating system.

Spa Frog combines the use of natural minerals with a small, measured amount of bromine to naturally purify your spa water and create a difference you can really feel.  No more bleached swimming suits, skin irritation or smelly chlorine!

One Spa Frog bromine cartridge will last approximately 2-4 weeks.

SPA FROG - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Spa Frog?

The Spa Frog System comprises pre-filled mineral and bromine cartridges.  Use of the mineral cartridge enables spas sanitised with Spa Frog to use 50% - 80% less bromine than standard bromine treated spas.

The cartridges can either be placed in a re-usable floating holder, or placed into a specially constructed chamber built into the side of many spas.

How long do the cartridges last?

The mineral cartridge lasts for 4 months and should be replaced after that time, even if you can still hear spent material inside when youy shake it. The material will no longer be effective.

The bromine cartridges last approximately 4 weeks, but their life depends on the size of your hot tub and the bacterial load (how dirty the water is).

How do I know when the bromine cartridge has run out?

Test the water with bromine test strips at least weekly and more frequently when you are expecting the cartridge to run out. When the bromine level drops you will know that it is time to replace the cartridge. The bromine level in your spa should never drop below 1ppm.

Is Spa Frog compatible with other products?

Spa Frog is compatible with most other hot tub water care products on the market, including water balance chemicals, anti-foam and shocks.

What TA and pH levels should I maintain

When using Bromine as a sanitizer you should maintain the following water balance:

  • TA 80 - 120 ppm
  • pH 7.2 - 7.8
  • Total Hardness 250 - 500 ppm

Do I still need to use a shock treatment?

Yes. A shock is necessary with any hot tub water treatment system because there is no other way of removing dissolved organic contaminants, such as perspiration, body oil or make-up, from the water. You should shock weekly or fortnightly, depending on your hot tub use.

How important are the filters?

Filtration is a vital part of keeping your spa water crystal clear. In common with any sanitising system, you should make certain that your filtering cycle is adequate for your spa volume and usage. Clean your filters regularly using a proprietary filter cleaner and replace them every 6 - 12 months.

Filters last longer if they are allowed to dry out properly between uses so it's a good idea to keep a spare set and rotate them.
